Peanut Butter Perfection: 4 Recipes to Try

Peanut butter is an amazing food. It can be used in hundreds of different dishes and adds flavor, texture, and a huge protein kick to each and every one.

Therefore, if you’re looking to add protein to your diet while also adding delicious flavor, reaching for a jar of peanut butter is a sure bet. A simple peanut butter sandwich will certainly help you tap into those nutrients, but there’s no reason you can’t mix it up from time to time. After all, life is so much more fun when you experiment and try new things.

For this reason, we have compiled a list of amazing yet simple peanut butter recipes for you to try. Test them all and decide which one you like best.

#1: Peanut Butter Sandwich French Toast
Anyone who has ever eaten french toast knows that it is perfectly wonderful all on its own. That said, there is no reason why a good thing can’t get better, so we decided to add a bit (okay, a lot) of peanut butter to a plate of syrup-covered french toast. The result? An incredible, heavenly dish that we recommend everyone try at least once.

To make your own version of this breakfast food, simply make two slices of french toast just as you normally would. Spread a layer of peanut butter on one slice, sprinkle on chocolate chips, bananas, apples, or anything else your heart desires, and place the other slice on top. Finish with a drizzle of maple syrup.

There’s a lot of sugar here, so don’t go overboard. This is best enjoyed every once in a great while.

#2: Apple Peanut Butter Sandwich
If you’re trying to cut back on carbs but a peanut butter sandwich is calling your name, it’s time to give the apple sandwich a try. This fun twist on the classic PB sandwich uses apple slices in place of bread and is quite satisfying. Best of all, this tasty treat is easy to pack up and take to work or school.

Begin your “sandwich” by coring an apple and slicing it into six rounds. If you will be packing these sandwiches to enjoy later, lightly spritz each apple slice with lemon juice to avoid browning. Top three of the rounds with peanut butter and a healthy sprinkling of granola. Add a second apple round on top and enjoy!

#3: Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie
Another fairly healthy (yet deliciously peanut buttery) option is a peanut butter and banana smoothie. These tasty beverages are ideal for breakfast on the go or an afternoon snack. Best of all, they can be whipped up in no time!

Create a smoothie of your own by pulling out the blender and tossing in:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1½ tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 3 ice cubes

Blend until smooth and serve with a straw.

#4: Easy Peanut Butter Cookies
Okay, so this recipe is not exactly healthy, and it’s definitely not the best option when it comes to daily snacking. That said, the end result is delicious, making it perfect for special occasions. On top of that, this has to be the simplest cookie recipe around.

To make a batch, combine 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of white sugar, and 1 egg. Mix until creamy and drop rounded spoonfuls on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes.

Want to ramp up the yum factor? Try adding a few chocolate chips, raisins, or oats to the top of each cookie before baking.

With these four recipes in your arsenal, you’ll always be able to quickly and easily nip peanut butter cravings in the bud. Of course, there is no reason you have to stick just to these ideas. Get creative and see what other tasty dishes you can create with that trusty jar of peanut butter.
